Installing in Linux
Instantbird connects to Gtalk, facebook, MSN, Yahoo, Twitter, Jabber, IRC, AOL, ICQ Aim compatible. And its interface is simple. Also provides proxy settings.

1. Download Instantbird 1.1 from

http://www.instantbird.com/download-all.html

2. Extract instantbird-1.1.en-US.linux-i686.tar.bz2

tar -xzf $PATH$/instantbird-1.1.en-US.linux-i686.tar.bz2

3. Now you can run instantbird using command in terminal

 $PATH$/instantbird/instantbird

4. But to give a appearance of a normal application, u have to do a little tweaks.. as follows
I will install instantbird in my /opt/ directory

sudo cp -r $PATH$/instantbird/ /opt/
chmod 777 /opt/instantbird/*

5. Now create a desktop icon

sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/instantbird.desktop

paste following lines

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Instantbird
GenericName=Instantbird
Comment=Internet Messaging client
Exec=gksu /opt/instantbird/instantbird
Icon=/opt/instantbird/icons/mozicon128.png
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Network;InstantMessaging;

P.S. If gksu is not installed in your system you need to install gnome-panel package using the following command from your terminal

 sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends gnome-panel

I have used gksu because I prefer to run my instantbird as root user, this enhance the security.
