By |August 5th, 2012|

Use this guide if you already have XAMPP installed in your Linux OSX or follow my previous blog here. Keep reading here for an easy to follow process of getting a Drupal basic installation onto XAMPP and up and running for you to get going with as soon as possible.

Firstly before we get started you should have already downloaded and installed XAMPP for linux and started it by typing:

 sudo /opt/lampp/lampp start

1. Now we need to download the latest version of Drupal from here. At the time of writing this Drupal 6.20 was the current version. Make sure you download it to a directory that you can access easily and once downloaded move it to your desktop.

Installing XAMPP for Linux (Ubuntu)

By |August 5th, 2012|

After trawling through a few methods on how to get Drupal up and running in Linux (Ubuntu) and patching together pieces from each. I decided to write a method to get XAMPP installed in one easy to follow guide. With this you can install and develop your Drupal websites locally on any linux osx.

First thing you need to do is get a hold of XAMPP for Linux from here:

XAMPP 1.7.4

Ensure that its downloaded to a directory you can easily access

Next you need to unpack and install the tar.gz file. To do this open up the terminal (applications–>accessories–>terminal), navigate to the folder you have just downloaded to and type:

sudo tar xvfz xampp-linux-1.7.4.tar.gz -C /opt
